     Processing Technologies - Resodyn Corporation's chemical process technology extends to many areas including renewable resources. An example is Chemical Pulping of Wheat Straw. Resodyn Corporation's unique ResonantAcoustics® and ResonantSonics® mixing technologies have also demonstrated dramatic improvements in a variety of separations processes including Membranes, Extraction, Flotation, and Crystallization.


Chemical Pulping of Wheat Straw

Resodyn Corporation's wheat straw chemical pulping technology turns wheat straw (field residue after harvesting) into pulp which can be used for specialty applications where non chlorine bleached paper is required or desired. The pulping operation is an environmentally friendly (green - chlorine free and low water use) process that produces a product from waste that can be sold at a premium.

Membranes

In almost all filtration applications concentration polarization causes gel layer formation on membrane surfaces resulting in a reduction of flux. The eventual result of gel formation is membrane clogging. Resodyn Corporation has developed a unique sonic technology that induces micro turbulence in the fluid near membrane surfaces minimizing gel layer formation. This results in maintenance of high flux through membranes on a continuous basis. Resodyn Corporation has developed unique membrane separation technology based on ResonantAcoustics® that separates products in situ and does suffer from clogging.

Extraction

Flotation

Resodyn Corporation also has a unique technology using ResonantSonics® that improves continuous industrial flotation processes by dramatically improving bubble dynamics during flotation processing. This technology is capable of gas hold-up values that are nothing short of outstanding. Current microbubble flotation processes using small bubble jets and static mixers are incapable of the mass transfer and the bubble pumping dynamics of a ResonantSonics® flotation column.

Crystallization

The dominant purification technology for solids is crystallization. The crystallization process can effect the size distribution of crystals as well as their purity. In many cases size distribution is a critical product specification. Resodyn Corporation has a unique purification technology that improves crystallization by using low-frequency sonic agitation. The Resonant Enhanced Crystallization ( REC ) technology has been found to greatly improve the crystallization process in terms of crystal growth rate, size distribution and purity.
