Synthetic Organic Chemist
Position Description: Organic Chemist to join our team!
The position requires the candidate to have a solid fundamental knowledge in organic synthesis and polymer synthesis. Polymer application experience will certainly be a plus. Only the candidate who has creative thinking and fast learning capability, as well as has good hands-on wet bench experimental skills may apply.
The successful candidate must have a knack for innovative solutions to technically challenging problems through work experience in a research, or a product/process development environment.
The candidate must have the ability to work independently in a team-based environment and collaborate with chemists, biochemical and chemical engineers to conduct research. In a high throughput discovery environment, the candidate will focus on: the synthesis of chemical compounds to support biotechnology research projects; conducting organic synthesis research on the design, execution, and interpretation of reactions and synthetic sequence; alternative synthetic pathways aimed at preparing novel therapeutic compounds; and the acquisition of know-how and experience in the synthesis of organic molecules. This position is for a scientist with strong skills and experience in synthetic organic chemistry. The selected candidate will have the necessary basic education in structural chemistry such as conformations, chirality, and molecular geometry. The candidate must be competent in all standard organic synthetic, purification and analytical techniques such as chromatography (GC and HPLC), fractional distillation, crystallization and the interpretation of spectra (FTIR, UV-Visible, AA). Experience in parallel synthesis is a plus. An inquisitive, problem-solving disposition is required.
In this role, the candidate will take responsibility for assigned projects from inception to completion. The candidate will generate project requirements to resolve product/process problems and to support development of new products/processes. The candidate will initiate technical investigations, prepare protocols, develop, and apply advanced theories, methods and research techniques in solution of complex and advanced problems.
The candidate will also be required to write reaction protocols, research reports, prepare grant proposals, and to periodically present work in a team setting and to customers, clients, investors, government organizations, and collaborators.
